About Mala Vila
SMALL AND IMPACTFUL
Located in a small village Stari Glog in Zagreb county, Mala Vila is home to a variety of birds, insects and small animals, as well as compact mirrored houses that gracefully reflect their surroundings. Each house represents an element – Aria (air), Ignis (fire), Terra (earth), and Aqua (water). They are placed in an organic form, covering a small portion of the total built-up area, leaving the forest and its ecosystem to thrive around them. Mala Vila guests can relax as well as get invigorated by village walks, mushroom foraging, cycling, bonfire evenings, reading, and wellness.
MALA VILA CARES
Social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of the guests, the environment, as well as the local community is important to Mala Vila. Responsible sustainability permeates many of Mala Vila’s aspects: design, build, careful forest cleaning, waste management, local organic farming, and composting, to name a few.
We minimize waste by daily recycling, using refillable bottles, and avoiding single-use plastics. We use a minimum amount of paper, and incorporate digital practices wherever possible.
Natural, healthy, sustainable, home-made, and calming are the focus and the pillars upon which we created the forest retreat. We welcome you to Mala Vila to join in the appreciation of nature, and in turn take care of your overall wellbeing.
Be. Nature.
OUR JOURNEY
The idea of a forest retreat was born out of love for nature and the forest, as well as the need to take better care of ourselves. As the concept evolved, it was imperative to find a solution to keep the forest intact and the footprint minimal. The solution was simple yet difficult to implement, in order not to disturb the nature and the animals living there. We chose a small village Stari Glog in continental Croatia, brimming with forests, meadows, healthy produce, and rural environment, yet a short drive away from Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
